Hey,
Nick here.
In the next several days, I want to tell you the TRUTH about certain foods. You need to hear it, even though some of it will definitely sound crazy to you.
There are several foods that even the American Heart Association, doctors and old-school nutritionists still tell you are healthy – but that the best independent health experts would tell you to avoid like the plague. Let's do this...
Unhealthy Mess #1: Canola Oil And Other Vegetable OilsRefined vegetable oils are the WORST kind of fats you can eat -- period.
You see, plants contain very fragile polyunsaturated fats that are sensitive to heat, oxygen and even light.
(That's why quality oils are always kept in dark bottles.)
But food manufacturers don't care about damaging your healthy fats. They extract plant oils from peanuts, canola, corn, safflower, soybean and sunflower using the industrial solvent hexane
-- at very high temperatures.
Once the oil has been extracted, it's a smelly grey mess. But they filter, degum and deodorize that goo until it looks good and smells neutral, and then sell it to you.
This refined oil does not only contain NO nutrients at all... it's also inflammatory to your heart and downright dangerous. And ironically, that is the oil the American Heart Association wants you to use...
Instead of these inflammatory oils, cook your foods in
coconut oil, an incredible superfood that's anti-inflammatory and actually a proven fat burner!
Another amazing oil that we recommend is
Ava Jane's Avocado Oil. I wouldn't use it to cook at high temperatures, but it tastes like heaven on salads – and it packs so much nutrition that it would take me an entire email to tout its health benefits!
That's it for now.
Tomorrow, we'll be back to talk about diet soda – and why it really shouldn't be called "diet" at all...
